Havening

Serving adults, teens, and children throughout New York

"I can't believe how well this worked!"

Maybe you’ve tried EMDR, Tapping, or Prolonged Exposure and found that they either didn’t help or they made things worse. Perhaps your experience is more complex than an isolated incident. Or you might have a tendency to dissociate so therapy methods that are designed to overwhelm and desensitize you are counterproductive. Maybe you're just not convinced that the solution has to be long and painful. You're right, it doesn't. Sometimes the simplest solutions work the best. And they're often hidden in plain sight.

Who  Havening is suited for:

  • You're an abstract thinker.

  • You’re looking for a time-efficient and cost-effective treatment option.

  • You don’t want to be overwhelmed

  • You don’t want to lose sensation either.

  • You would prefer to have fun in therapy.

What  Havening is suited for:

  • Complex Trauma

  • Acute Trauma

  • Dissociation

  • Anxiety

  • Phobias

  • Panic Attacks

  • Headaches

  • Memories of Abuse

  • Ancestral Trauma

  • Grief

What is Havening?

Havening® is a psychosensory method developed from neuroscience. It engages your body and your mind simultaneously to initiate a naturally occurring neurochemical process that frees the brain to reveal and resolve multiple aspects of the trauma or the trigger. Havening helps you enlist strengths you didn’t know you had to release pain and stress to the extent that you desire and is minimally invasive as far as trauma treatments go.

What to expect

Some treatment methods can feel like you’ve dived into the abyss and you're running out of air, but Havening is like surfing a wave.

You’ll apply soothing touch to your hands, arms, or face. I will help you find the best distractions to combine with Havening touch. Your brain will do some rapid reprocessing and you’ll start to feel better almost immediately. All of this can happen in a single session.

  • Experience rapid relief

  • Discharge stress that has been trapped in the body

  • Gain insight into the unconscious meanings behind your triggers

  • Boost your mood by improving your brain chemistry (dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin)

  • Obtain closure

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I do Havening on my own?
A: Absolutely! It's a very beneficial practice to reduce stress, but having a trained, certified practitioner can help you maximize the benefits for specific and complex problems.

Q: Do I have to be touched?
A: Touch is an essential component for Havening but I do not touch my clients. Instead, I encourage clients to apply Havening touch in the ways that suit them best in the moment.

Q: Is Havening a form of hypnosis?
A: It is not. There are notable differences between Havening and Hypnosis. Engaging in Havening makes you feel more alert and more relaxed, simultaneously. With Havening, you maintain full consciousness and control. And while Hypnosis does not work for everybody, Havening can.

Q: Are there adverse side effects?
A: I have not encountered adverse side effects with Havening but no method can guarantee there will be no side effects. Unlike other methods, Havening does not exacerbate the discomfort you already feel. In some cases, Havening can help uncomfortable memories surface and simultaneously reduce the distress as you continue processing. This makes Havening one of the safest and most efficient treatments available.

" I am very grateful to have found Havening.
I have been dealing with the many effects of childhood trauma for a long time. I have tried many different types of therapies. Havening has helped me to better deal with my stress, and triggers. I felt comfortable with Lantie from the beginning. Our sessions were very professional, supportive and effective. Some very good techniques were taught which I continue to use."
